If You Were Me and Lived in … Peru is one among the children's book series by author Carole. This series intends to educate children about
cultures of several countries. The
collection is ideal for children of ages four to eight.
At least in the part of the world I live in, very little is known about this South American country Peru (Say Pir-roo). Not sure if my general knowledge was so bad all these years, but I have not heard the name of this city Lima (Say Lee-ma) before. However, the generation of my children would learn early about several countries and cultures around the world. Thanks to author Carole's children's book series!
The illustrations in the book are unique. A little boy and a girl with typical Peruvian (Say Per-roo-vee-an) looks, introduce their Mami (Say Mam-mee), Papi (Say Pap-pee) and more about their country. You must have guessed by now that children will get to learn a few words in the native language that they would commonly use. A pronunciation guide at the end of the book lists all of the new words and their meanings at one place.
Children will also learn a brief background about Machu Picchu, a few common Peruvian dishes as Ceviche and Picarones, the interesting game of Sapito and much more.
This is my third review for a book in this series and I am certainly
looking forward to learn about many other cultures in the coming days.
